Boosting Sesame Exports: CM Punjab’s 3-Year Farming Plan
Introduction
In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity, the Chief Minister of Punjab has launched a 3-year plan focusing on increasing the export of sesame while reducing the imports of canola and soybean. This program is part of the broader strategy to strengthen the province’s agricultural economy, in line with the slogan, “Kisaan Khushhal, Punjab Khushhaal” (A Prosperous Farmer, A Prosperous Punjab).
This ambitious initiative will support farmers in two key areas:
Boosting sesame exports.
Reducing reliance on imported canola and soybean by encouraging local production.
Last date to Apply for this Program
The program’s last date for application submissions is October 15, 2024, with a draw of the selected applicants scheduled for October 18, 2024.
Development of Canola Model Farms
As part of this plan, over 400 model canola farms will be established in two major districts of Punjab. The government will offer each farmer PKR 30,000 per farm to encourage the modern cultivation of canola crops. These model farms will be designed to follow advanced agricultural practices that ensure better yield and quality.
Terms and Conditions for Farmers
To be eligible for this program, farmers must meet the following requirements:
- Each farmer is required to cultivate canola on a minimum of 3 acres of land.
- Out of these 3 acres, 1 acre must be cultivated following the government’s guidelines for advanced farming techniques.
- The farmer’s land must be road-accessible, allowing other farmers to visit and observe the modern farming practices implemented.

Interested farmers can obtain application forms and additional information by contacting their local Deputy Director of Agriculture.
